The 2012-2013 school year will mark my fourth year here at Sunrise and my fifteenth year teaching in Christian schools. How grateful I am to God for the opportunity!
This year I am teaching three Precept Jr/Sr English classes as well as an advanced 7th grade and an 8th grade English class. The students use the Abeka curriculum which focuses on grammar, composition, and mechanics. They keep a writer's notebook, write book reports, a research paper, and numerous essays. The students will also do a book study or read and discuss selections from their literature book. The work load varies according to class, but all are becoming part of a community of writers!
I'm also teaching a PCS 8th grade math and a PCS Algebra 1/2 class. Both classes use the Saxon text which does an excellent job reviewing previous concepts throughout each lesson. Students receive one-on-one instruction as they learn to master various concepts.
What a blessing to be a part of SCA and to have these students in my life this year!
