Summer 2011 Missions Trips

 Guatemala June  13 - 23

Thank you to everyone for the prayers while we traveled to Guatemala!  A special thank you to Dr. Lindsted for his vision and for the money from the Valagrams, Jean Day and Empanadas to help with the cost.  The National Honor Society hosted the Dodge Ball tournament in January and some of the proceeds went towards the score board, soccer balls, trophies and shipping.  Thanks!

The team consisted of:  Isaac Stine, Sarah McQuery, Sophia Gunzelman, Rebecca King, Gabe Humble, Aaron Courtney, Elijah Klein, Leah Smith, Anna Klein, Maria Church.  Sponsors were:  Dr. Michael and Peggy O'Donnell and Ginger Humble.

The team was busy as they helped host the 1st Annual Soccer Tournament, with over 10 mens teams and several womens and children's teams.  They also helped with painting the soccer complex, varnishing the boards for the new addition for the school, helping in the orphanage, daily devotions at the school and at  Manna (the lunch program to feed the nearby children who do not have enough food to eat) and any other projects that they needed us to help.  (This even included helping them rid the children of lice, so many of the team literally "picked" lice out of the children's hair).    

We were able to give $1,100 towards the projects before we left! 

The team also enjoyed a day of hiking a volcano, boat ride with shopping and of course, the famous Zip Line!

New Mexico

A team of three adults and 8 students went to Mariano Lake, New Mexico to minister to the Navajo church.  We held a Vacation Bible School May 31-June 3.  We averaged 48 children a day, with a high of 62 on Wednesday!  There were 7 children saved and 3 assurances of salvation.  The team included:  Dr. Michael and Peggy O'Donnell,Joey Alligier (Campus), Kaylee Weatherby (Campus), Kelsey Johnson (Maize South High School), all from Grace Baptist Church, Wichita.  The Sunrise students included:  Zach Howell, Ben Schmidt, Sarah Keely, Brandon Layton, Weston Brewster.
