FWC

Each family attending SCA will also have a "Family Work Credit" (FWC) fee of $400.00, (20 hours each semester) and each jr./sr. high student will have a "Student Work Credit" (SWC) fee of $50.00 (5 hours each semester). This fee is the same for each family regardless of how many children you have in the Academy. The FWC fee, however, can be worked off at the rate of $10 per hour, and the SWC at a rate of $5.00 per hour. There are a number of school projects that need volunteers. This could include working in the library, the lunchroom, the school store, the playground or other functions. A list of these is always available in the school office or will appear each week in the school newsletter. If a family so desires, they may just pay the $400 and be excused from FWC. For those with just one child who is only attending half days (Pre-K or K), the FWC amount is reduced to $200.00.

Tuition Discounts

There is a discount of $100.00 for each child when the entire amount of tuition is paid in advance. In order to qualify, the full tuition, plus fees and books, must be paid by the 1st day of school. There are also discounts for each additional child after the first: 2nd child - $200, 3rd child - $400, and 4th child - $600. If a family's total tuition exceeds $13,500 per year, they may apply to the school board for financial aid for the amount over $13,500. The amount of aid given may vary from family to family since it is based on the needs of the family. Family Cap is $13,500.

Tuition Payments

Payment of tuition can be made in two ways. As mentioned earlier, if the entire amount due is paid in full in advance of the school year, $100 will be subtracted from the total. If monthly payments are preferred, the total tuition can be divided into ten equal payments beginning on August 15th. All academic fees are paid at registration or by the 1st day of classes.

Registration/Enrollment Fee

An enrollment fee of $100.00 must be paid when applying to SCA. If your child is not selected for admission, all will be refunded to you. If your child is selected and you choose not to come, the fee is nonrefundable. If your child is selected and you come to SCA, $25 of the $100 will be applied toward your 1st month's tuition payment. If you submit your application and fee after June 1st, all $100 will count toward the enrollment fee.

Tuition Scholarships

SCA has a scholarship fund available to help families. These scholarships will be based on financial need, emergency situations, hardship cases, etc. For example, if a family has an adjusted gross income of $25,000 or below with one student, partial financial aid is possible. If the income is $35,000 or below with 2 students, the family may also qualify. Request for financial aid should be submitted along with your application. Financial aid awards will be made after admission is determined.

Other Tuition Information

If a student drops out or has to leave Sunrise Christian Academy because of a move, they will forfeit all scholarships. In other words, any scholarship amounts applied must be paid to the school in full. As well, leaving during the year does not qualify a student to have a refund of registration fee or any of their book and fee payments. When dropping out part way through the year, a family will be required to pay all tuition through the quarter in which they were currently enrolled. Families who move from the area (more than 50 miles away) can apply to have their tuition prorated, but registration, book, and fee payments will not be prorated or refunded.

ACCEPTANCE INFORMATION

The student must be in good standing with their former school. They must have a passing report card from their last grade, plus they must either furnish a standardized test taken within the last two years or they will be required to take such a test in order to determine their academic progress. Applications should be submitted in the spring before the school year in which a student wishes to enroll. After reviewing the application, each prospective student and their family will be interviewed before final acceptance is granted. You will be notified no later than May 1st if applications are received by March 15th.
