Mr. Smith began his time at Sunrise as a Kindergarten student in 1991. He graduated in 2003, then earned his BA in Business Administration with a specialization in international business from Wichita State University. The Lord called Jeremy back to Sunrise to teach in 2010.
Mr. Smith teaching Business and Economics.
Jeremy has taught multiple classes including Life of Christ, Old Testament Survey, several different technology classes, and is currently teaching High School Business and Economics. He enjoys preparing students to handle finances and operate in the business world in a way that pleases God.
After teaching a full schedule for several years, Jeremy was asked to join the administrative team where he works closely with Dr. Lindsted on the budget, helps families with financial aid, and helps to lead the Sunrise faculty, staff, and students. The succession plan is for Jeremy to assume the role of Superintendent when Dr. Lindsted retires. Jeremy always plans to teach at least one class so he can keep his finger on the pulse of the classroom and not be unreasonable in what he asks of his teachers.
He has been married to his high school sweetheart, Shenel (they met at Sunrise!) for 16 years and they have four children who attend Sunrise. He loves spending time outdoors in God’s creation and with his family, which is his primary ministry.
His favorite verse is Galatians 2:20, "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."
