Mrs. Arellano has been teaching at Sunrise since 2020. She has a Bachelor's in Elementary Education from New Mexico State University. She teaches Junior High Spanish, Spanish 1 and Spanish 2.

Mrs. Barney has been teaching since 2017. She teaches Junior High and High School Art, as well as Graphic Design. She also helps with coaching JH volleyball. She grew up in Wichita and attended Christian schools for her entire education. She has been doing art since she was six years old and loves sharing her passion for it with others. She enjoys painting realistic portraits the most, but the impressionist artists are her favorite. She loves to travel and drink coffee with her husband!
Her favorite verse is Proverbs 20:24 “A man’s steps are of the Lord, how then can a man understand his own way?” It reminds her that even though sometimes we may not understand where we are going or why, God is directing our steps, and He will get us where we need to be."
Mr. Bingham has been teaching since 2008 and has a B. S. Sports Management and a Masters of Education. He teaches Robotics and Drone Certification Classes. He has coached football, basketball, and baseball in different capacities since 2006 and has been Athletic Director at Sunrise Christian Academy since 2018. He has been married since 2014 and has 4 children.
Ms. Chen teaches Chinese to K-5 students and EPP(English proficiency program) for international students. She loves spending time with her family traveling, tasting new food, and doing creative things. If she could start all over, she thinks she might become a PE teacher, an art teacher, or a music teacher rather than a language teacher. She is passionate to teach students to see God’s handiwork in all cultures and use all languages to proclaim God’s Word near and far.

Mrs. Classen is a Senior High teacher and has been teaching since 1997. The subjects she teaches at Sunrise are English 11, Great Books and Latin I-IV. She fell in love with the Latin language when she was in 7th grade. Mrs. Classen has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Kansas State University.

Mr. Colwell has been teaching since 2012. He started the orchestra program at Sunrise and directs all grades from fourth grade up. He has performed with musicians such as Tracy Silverman, Jim Brickman, and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. In addition to orchestra, he teaches Junior High History. Mr. Colwell hold an BME from Baker University (2007) and an MME from Wichita State University (2010).
His favorite verse is Proverbs 22:6.
Mrs. Cutaran is a Senior High math teacher who has been teaching since 1984. Her classes are Algebra 2, Plane Geometry and Trigonometry. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Adamson University in Manila, Philippines and a Master of Education major in Curriculum and Instruction from Wichita State University. As a military wife, she has lived and traveled in various parts of the world. This gave her and understanding and appreciation of others.
Her favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 31:30.
Ms. Douglas has been teaching since 2020, she has a BA in Bible and Theology, as well as a BA in Intercultural Studies. She has a K-12 Education Degree with an emphasis in English, and ESL as well. She teaches English, and Creative Writing to Middle Schoolers. She also is a Debate and Forensics coach. Ms. Douglas is originally from Des Moines Iowa. She also is a houseparent for our international students that are in High School. Ms. Douglas enjoys reading, playing board games, and crocheting.

Mrs. Echart has been teaching since 1999 and has a BA in Business Administration and a Minor in Spanish. She teaches US History, World History, Western Civilization and History of the Holocaust. She has been married for 30 years, has two children and loves NASCAR.

Mrs. Eckley begin teaching at Sunrise in 2010 after homeschooling her three children for ten years. She teaches Physical Science and Physics. Mrs. Eckley and her family are huge sports fans and enjoy football, softball and baseball. She has a BA in Education, and her favorite verse is Proverbs 3:5-6.
Mrs. Epp has been teaching since 2012 and has her BA in Secondary Science, Elementary Education and Special Education. Her Master's is in Curriculum and Instruction and English as a Second Language. She teaches Precept 6th Grade Science, Precept Biology and Biology. Mrs. Epp is an Alumni from Sunrise and has been married for 10 years and has two little boys.

Mrs. Fuller graduated in 2002 with her Bachelor's Degree in both Music Education and Bible. After teaching private piano and voice lessons for about a decade, she began teaching vocal music at SCA in 2017. She is married and has five children (including triplets). She enjoys puzzles, traveling, and spending time with her family.
Her favorite passage of Scripture is currently Psalm 121.
Mr. Fuller has been teaching and contributing at Sunrise since 2017. He has a degree in Music and in Bible, and has a MA in Biblical Counseling. At SCA, he assists his wife, Heidi Fuller the vocal music teacher, as the choral conductor and general advisor. He also has been the vocal music director for six musicals at SCA, and has twice been honored with a state-wide award for vocal music direction of these shows. Rob serves full time as a music pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in Derby, KS. He and his wife have five children who all attend SCA.
Mrs. Gerber has been teaching at Sunrise since 2002. She holds a BS in Biology and a minor in Chemistry, and later completed an Education Degree after working in a Research and Development Lab. She has been married to her husband Dave for almost 40 years. She and Dave have 2 children, Katie (Epp) whom she is thrilled to have teaching Science with her and Ben who is a doctor in residency for Anesthesiology. They have 4 grandchildren who are her passion. Starla says "I love teaching Chemistry and Anatomy and Physiology because there are many ways to demonstrate the amazing orderliness, creativity and provision of our Creator." Her favorite verse is Jeremiah 29:11.
Mr. Goebel teaches both Junior High and Senior High Physical education, 8th grade Bible and Junior High Geography. He has taught since 2001 and holds a BA from Moody Bible Institute. He has run five marathons, and he and his wife have six children.

Mrs. Hamlin teaches band for all Sunrise grades starting with 4th grade and going through Senior High. She has taught here since 2009 and holds both a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degree from Wichita State University. Mrs. Hamlin regularly performs with Delano Wind Ensemble and Newton Mid-Kansas Symphony Orchestra on flute and piccolo. She is a mother of three, all who currently attend Sunrise.
Her favorite verse is Psalm 84:10 “For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness."
Robin Jackson, Ph.D.
Dr. Jackson has been teaching since 1995 (second career after being a professional senior analytical chemist for a private laboratory) and has a B.S. in Chemistry and Physics; an M.S. in Special Education Gifted and Talented Science Education; An Ed.S. in Chemistry and Science Curriculum; and a Ph.D. in Christian Education. She teaches Dual Credit courses in College Algebra and College Trigonometry, Algebra 2 and Math-9, Math-10, Math-11 and Algebra-1 P. She has been married for 46 years, has three children and three grandchildren and loves music, gardening, biking and animals and babies.
Her favorite verse is Galatians 6:9.
Mrs. Keck teaches both Junior High and Senior High Algebra. She taught at Sunrise from 1993-1997 and then took 11 years off to stay home with her family, returning to Sunrise in 2008. Her B.S. in Secondary Education Math is from Calvary Bible College. She also works with the Sunrise Drama Department and is often referred to as the "drama mama". Mrs. Keck and her husband have 4 children who are currently attending or have graduated from Sunrise. Mrs. Keck grew up attending a Christian school and is very passionate about Christian education. She feels grateful to be at Sunrise.

As well as being our Junior High and Senior High Principal, Mrs. Keely teaches Pre-Calculus. In 1991, a Bachelor’s Degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Wichita State University and in 2003, she went back to Wichita State to take education classes to begin a teaching career. She also has a Masters in Education from Covenant College.
Mrs. Keely has been married to Loren for 30 years and they have 3 children: Jessica, Sarah, and Jacob. All three children attended and graduated from Sunrise Christian Academy.
Mrs. Khokar is a science teacher who has taught since 2001. Her classes include Junior High Science and Senior High Chemistry and Zoology. She has a BS in Biology/Chemistry and a BA in Education. She has five children who either currently attend or have graduated from Sunrise, three boys and twin girls. She enjoys traveling with her family.

Mr. Kliewer has a B.A. in Bible from Bob Jones University and has an M.A. in Theological Studies from Bob Jones University Seminary. At Sunrise Christian Academy, he teaches both English and Bible. His hobbies are golf, basketball, reading, and juggling.

Robert Lindsted, Ph.D.
Dr. Robert Lindsted is the Superintendent of Sunrise Christian Academy. He has a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, and taught for nine years in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Wichita State University. As an Engineering Consultant, he has worked with over 100 companies on various projects.
In 1983, he founded Sunrise Christian Academy with one teacher and six students. He still finds the time to teach 2 courses for Seniors, Honors Bible and Calculus. These are subjects where he gets to share his love for studying the Scripture and Math with our students.
Dr. Lindsted and his wife, Sharon, have 3 children and 9 grandchildren.
Mr. Morrison spent 40 years in sunny Miami, Florida but have considered Wichita my home now for 22+ years. He taught Elementary Physical Education for 18 years in Miami and Elementary/Middle School Special Education for 22 years in Wichita. This is his 1st year at Sunrise Christian Academy and is teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Math. Dan grew up in a churched family but did not come to know the LORD until he was 28 years old. He says "I now seek to serve HIM in various capacities. I am happy to be here at Sunrise amongst so many awesome believers where the WORD of GOD is revered."
I began teaching full time at Sunrise in the fall of 1996. Currently, I am the Director of Precept Christian School. I also teach Government, Girls Bible and Debate/Forensics. I coach Debate/Forensics, Model UN, Mock Trial and LifeSmarts and I am also the student missions coordinator. I have an Associate in Business Administration from Baptist Bible College, a Bachelor of Christian Education from Calvary Baptist College and a Master of Religious Education from Calvary Baptist College.
I was married to the late, Dr. Michael O'Donnell, Sr. Pastor at Grace Baptist Church. My three children are all graduates of Sunrise.
Carman Peterson teaches Creative Writing and JH English. She has a B.S. in Communications from Pensacola Christian College. She and her husband Jeff have three sons, all 3 are either attending SCA or Sunrise Christian Childcare.
Mrs. Peterson loves reading and spending time with her family.

Mr. Jeff Peterson received his BA in History Education from Pensacola Christian College. He has taught for eleven years at schools in Georgia and Texas.
Mr. Peterson is teaching some junior high and high school history classes as well as coaching varsity boys basketball. He is married to Carman Peterson, also a teacher here at Sunrise, and has three sons who attend SCA.
Mr. Peterson's favorite Bible verse is Galatians 6:7-9.
Mrs. Ploeckelmann taught 10 years in other schools before coming to Sunrise in 1990. She teaches English 10 and 12, 7th grade Bible, Philosophy and Christian worldview. She holds a Bachelors in Education from Wichita State University. Her two daughters graduated from Sunrise, and now three grandchildren at attending here.

Mr. Raab began teaching Bible at Sunrise in 2019. He has a MA in Pastoral Studies from Bob Jones University. He was previously a pastor for 13 years and taught the Bible in the church setting for over 25 years. His passion is preparing Christians for the trials they will face in the coming years by teaching and preaching the Word of God. He and his wife, Evangeline, have been married for 33 years. They have 4 children.
His favorite Bible verses are: John 3:30 "He must increase, but I must decrease." and Galatians 2:20 "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me:.and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me."
Mrs. Schultz has been teaching since 1986. Her BSE degree is from Emporia State University. She currently teaches Sophomore and Senior English. Mrs. Schultz loves reading and spending time with her grandchildren.

Mr. Smith began his time at Sunrise as a Kindergarten student in 1991. He graduated in 2003, then earned his BA in Business Administration with a specialization in international business from Wichita State University. He returned to Sunrise to teach in 2010 and plans to continue teaching even as he has moved into administration. Jeremy enjoys preparing students to handle finances and operate in the business world in a way that pleases God. He currently teaches High School Business and Economics. He has been married to his high school sweetheart Shenel for 16 years and they have four children attending Sunrise. He loves spending time in the outdoors and with his family.

Dr. Smothers has a PhD in Biblical Theology and an MDiv in Christian Ministry from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He teaches Senior Bible and is the pastor of the First Baptist Church of Maize. He is married with five children, and he loves to read and write.

Mr. Smothers teaches Senior High Bible, Geometry and Biology. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Kansas. He is right handed, musical and loves to read.

Mrs. Strong teaches both Junior High and Senior High Physical Education and has been teaching since 2000. Her Bachelor's Degree is from the University of the Ozarks where she majored in Physical Education with a Minor in Health. She earned her Master's Degree from the University of Arkansas in Educational Administration. Mrs. Strong says, "I find it interesting that God still uses me for His Kingdom despite the fact that I'm not worthy. It proves that He doesn't call the equipped, He equips the called.”

Mr. Waters has been a Junior and Senior High teacher since 2007. His classes are Bible, Government and World History. He obtained a BA in Social Science, with a minor in Political Science, from Troy University. He says, "I am a Marine and served in Operation Iraqi Freedom, Born and raised in Alabama, ROLL TIDE! " When asked his favorite Bible verse, he said, "All of them!" (1 Cor. 1:26-31)
Mrs. White has been teaching since 2003 and has BA in Math. She teaches junior high math. She has a husband and a daughter that she loves to travel and see new places with.

Mr. Whittemore has been teaching since 1992. He has taught in almost every subject area, but is currently teaching Sophomore Bible, Spanish IV, and 8th grade Earth Science. He also is the school’s Student Information Systems Administrator and is the faculty sponsor for See You At The Pole and other worship events. He has a Bachelor of Music (Saxophone Performance) from the University of Montana, as well as additional coursework in education from Friends University. He serves as an elder and worship leader at his church and has been active in short-term missions in Europe, Mexico, and South America. As a musician, he has performed on 4 continents and composed music for musical theater, public radio, and public television. Although his favorite book of the Bible is Psalms, his favorite passage of scripture is 2 Corinthians 4:5-11.
Ms. Womack has been a teacher since 1989 and currently teaches both Junior High and Senior High English at Sunrise. She has a BA in English from Kansas Christian College and is the author of the book "Sit Back and Enjoy the Ride." She feels privileged to have had the opportunity to teach English in Japan. Her favorite verse is II Tim. 1:7 "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."
Mr. Woodward has been teaching since 1986 and joined the Faculty of Sunrise in 2014. However, he's been the Cross Country and Track coach since 2000. He holds a BA in Education from Wichita State University. Mr. Woodward teaches history, Bible ACT Prep and Communications. Everyone in Mr. Woodward's family has either graduated from, taught at or coached at Sunrise.
